The Master of Arts (MA) in Counselling Psychology (Project, non-thesis) at McGill University's Faculty of Education prepares students for clinical and research careers in counselling psychology. The program emphasizes both academic and practical skills: students engage in coursework focused on intervention, assessment, diagnosis, ethics, statistics, multicultural and gender issues, and career psychology. Supervised practica provide practical experience in counselling and assessment, often in the McGill Psychoeducational and Counselling Clinic. The program aims to build foundational research skills with a data analysis course and research project. Graduates are eligible for membership in the Ordre des conseillers et conseillères d'orientation du Québec (OCCOQ), though additional internship experience may be needed to fulfill all professional requirements. The program also provides a solid base for doctoral studies in counselling psychology.
