The MSW – Gender and Women’s Studies Option at McGill University offers a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach for students interested in feminist theories, gender and women’s studies, sexuality, and advanced social work practice. The course work prepares graduates for practice or research involving critical analysis of gender, feminism, sexuality, anti-racism in social services, and social policy. Students may select either the non-thesis (field placement) or thesis (research-focused, no field) format. The non-thesis option includes hands-on field placement and specialized coursework, while the thesis track centers on developing research expertise for those interested in academic or policy analysis careers. Both tracks emphasize integrating a feminist lens and issues of equity and justice across micro, mezzo, and macro social work domains.
