The Master of Urban Planning (M.U.P.) at McGill University, with a concentration in Urban Development and Urban Design, is a professional, course-based graduate program. It prepares students for diverse careers in planning, urban design, and project evaluation, focusing on hands-on learning and integration with real-world urban issues. The Urban Development and Urban Design concentration is intended for students seeking analysis and design expertise for existing or emerging urban contexts, both in North America and internationally. The program is recognized by the Ordre des urbanistes du Québec (OUQ) and the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP), allowing graduates to pursue professional licensure after post-graduation requirements are fulfilled. Experiential learning includes studio courses, internships, and a final integrative project, with Montréal serving as a living laboratory for urban issues. Admission to the Urban Development and Urban Design option occurs at the end of the first year of study.
