The Master of Science in Cybersecurity at Syracuse University's College of Engineering and Computer Science is designed to address the security needs of global digital infrastructure. The program emphasizes analyzing and remedying system vulnerabilities, risk assessment and mitigation, and delivering software and hardware systems with verifiable security properties. Students are taught by cybersecurity specialists in a curriculum recognized by the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security as a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Research since 2009. The curriculum requires 12 credits of core courses, 12 credits of technical cybersecurity electives from an approved list, and 6 additional credits chosen from technical or nontechnical elective lists or advanced CIS/CSE courses. A minimum GPA of 3.0 must be maintained, and at least a B- average across core course final exams. Up to 9 transfer credits may be accepted with approval. The program is available in both on-campus and online formats, offering full-time and part-time study to accommodate different needs.
