The BA in Russian Language and Literature at the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, George Washington University, provides students with advanced skills in speaking, reading, and writing Russian, as well as a deep exploration of Russian poetry, prose, culture, history, film, and contemporary media. Students analyze literary works by writers such as Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, and Pushkin, engage with Russian films and TV programs, and have opportunities for immersive cultural experiences. This program prepares graduates for careers in diplomacy, international law and security, business, education, translation, and other Russia-related fields. The major is identified as critical by the U.S. government, and alumni have gone on to become diplomats, businessmen, professors, and more.
