The BA in Multidisciplinary Studies at Stony Brook University's College of Arts and Sciences is a flexible undergraduate program allowing students to design an individualized major by combining coursework from two or three different disciplines. Students must create a Curricular Plan explaining how their chosen concentrations support their academic or career goals. At least 45 credits are required in the selected areas, with a minimum of 30 upper-division credits. The program is designed for students with broad or interdisciplinary academic interests, and common pathways include preparation for health professions, graduate study, or careers in business, education, and government. Admission to the major requires at least two semesters of study at Stony Brook and an advising session to develop the Curricular Plan. No additional program-specific admission requirements exist beyond the university's general admissions standards.
