The MA in American Studies at Yale University is a flexible, interdisciplinary graduate program that offers advanced training in the study of US culture, history, literature, politics, and society. Students engage with faculty and peers across the Division of Humanities to explore the changing representations of national identity, cultural pluralism, and American experiences through multiple disciplinary lenses. The program requires 7 term courses (including a language requirement and a special writing project) and provides the same rigorous curriculum as the PhD track. There is no financial aid for the terminal MA program. Graduates are prepared for further academic work or careers requiring analytical and cross-disciplinary training in American culture.
