The Master of Science (MS) in Physics program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is designed as a highly flexible, coursework-based graduate program requiring a minimum of 32 credit hours. All coursework must be at the 400- or 500-level, including at least 12 hours at the 500-level, and at least 16 hours of Physics courses, with at least 8 of those at the 500-level. No thesis or special examination is required, and students tailor their study plan with an advisor. The curriculum covers a broad range of physics fields and allows for significant elective choice. The program is intended to be completed in two semesters but may allow up to four semesters for completion.
