The Bachelor of Music in Hip-Hop at the Peabody Institute, Johns Hopkins University, is the first undergraduate degree of its kind in the United States. Launching Fall 2025 and led by renowned producer and educator Wendel Patrick, with Grammy-winning artist Lupe Fiasco as inaugural faculty, the program offers professional conservatory-level training in Hip-Hop. Students can major in rap, turntablism, beatboxing, or production, each receiving one-on-one studio instruction from leading artists. The curriculum integrates musical performance, creative technology, and career development, and includes courses on the cultural, historical, and sociopolitical foundations of hip-hop. Collaboration with Baltimore’s vibrant hip-hop community and engagement with visiting artists are core aspects of the program.
