The Peabody Institute’s Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance is designed to develop 21st-century dance artists, choreographers, teachers, and leaders. The program emphasizes performance, choreography, and critical historical and theoretical study, preparing students for roles across the dance field—on stage, in education, in research, and in community leadership. Students train in ballet, modern/contemporary, African Diaspora forms, improvisation, dance science, somatics, dance history, and more. Highlights include performance opportunities in the Peabody Dance Ensemble, residencies with master guest artists, professional internships, and a senior capstone project integrating research and presentation. The program seeks to expand the boundaries of dance in both traditional and non-traditional contexts, promoting advocacy, creativity, and plurality.
