The Government, Economics and Management (GEM) major at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, University of Guelph, offers an integrated and multidisciplinary education in public sector administration, economics, and management. Students investigate public sector policy, administration from inside and outside perspectives, and public/private sector relations. The curriculum emphasizes core business skills in law, human resources, marketing, accounting, and finance, together with a deep understanding of political institutions, public policy, and public sector decision-making. Through electives and a co-op option, students can further specialize and gain more than 20 months of paid, hands-on work experience. Graduates will be equipped for careers in business, government, public policy, and related fields, or further study in areas such as law.
