The Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering at UC San Diego's Jacobs School of Engineering is a graduate program focused on intensive technical preparation and research within various cutting-edge areas of electrical and computer engineering. The program is research-oriented and intended for students planning advanced technical work in industry or further academic study such as a Ph.D. Students can follow either Plan I (Thesis-based) or Plan II (Comprehensive Exam). The curriculum requires a minimum of 48 units, with at least 36 units in graduate-level courses aligned with discipline-specific core requirements. The program can be completed in two years of full-time study. Specializations are available in a wide range of disciplines such as Communication Theory and Systems, Intelligent Systems and Robotics, Signal and Image Processing, Electronic Circuits and Systems, among others.
