The Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering at UC San Diego's Jacobs School of Engineering is a graduate program focused on intensive technical preparation and research within various cutting-edge areas of electrical and computer engineering. The program is research-oriented and intended for students planning advanced technical work in industry or further academic study such as a Ph.D. Students can follow either Plan I (Thesis-based) or Plan II (Comprehensive Exam). The curriculum requires a minimum of 48 units, with at least 36 units in graduate-level courses aligned with discipline-specific core requirements. The program can be completed in two years of full-time study. Specializations are available in a wide range of disciplines such as Communication Theory and Systems, Intelligent Systems and Robotics, Signal and Image Processing, Electronic Circuits and Systems, among others. Students have access to more than 60 faculty members and state-of-the-art research facilities.
