The Master of Arts in Quantitative Methods and Social Analysis (QMSA) at the University of Chicago's Division of the Social Sciences is a rigorous one-year program, comprising 9 graduate-level courses and culminating in an article-length MA thesis. Students receive advanced training in statistical theory and modern quantitative techniques to address complex issues in the social sciences. The interdisciplinary program is guided by leading UChicago faculty specializing in cutting-edge methods such as causal inference, multilevel modeling, network analysis, econometrics, and machine learning. Students complete core and advanced courses, selected graduate electives in their field of interest, and participate in biweekly quantitative methods workshops before producing their thesis under faculty supervision. The program prepares graduates for both PhD-level research and analytical roles in professional settings.
